One of the unique and useful features Virola offers is permanent storage of all your chat data and history. You no longer need to worry about losing your past discussions or transferred files if your computer breaks down or if you reinstall the application.
All the past data gets restored automatically after client app reinstallation. You can search and review the whole history as usual.
If you chose Virola's self-hosted option, the chat history will be stored on your own server and you will have full control over it.
If you use cloud version of Virola, we will take care of keeping your data safe and secure for you.
What if you need to clear the chat history?
You may need to remove messages in a chat room, either individually on in bulk.
Individual message removal is available for:
- Virola server amdins - they can remove any message in any chat room they participate in
- Group chat room moderators - they can remove any message in the rooms they moderate
- Regular users - they can remove their own messages in any chat room they participate in, if allowed by user permissions
Bulk message removal means clearing the chat history that is older than a specified age. Virola server Admin, group chat room moderator, or a private chat room participant can use this feature for a chat room. All messages and attachments that are older than the specified age will be removed for all chat room participants. Clear chat history feature is available in the chat room options.
