How to deploy Virola server on VPSServer

There is no need to have your own server to host Virola corporate messenger. You can select a hosting service provider and deploy Virola server on a remote server. Check the installation instructions for the VPSServer provider:

  1. Follow "Create new server"

  3. Select a server location
  4. Choose OS image. In our guidelines, we will select Ubuntu with the latest OS version 24.04 64 bit.

  6. On the next step you will need to configure server specs. Virola does not require much resources: RAM: 32 MB for installation + 1 МB additionally for each Virola user. Disk space: 2 MB for each Virola user + the total volume of all attachments. Thus, the specification will depend on the number of users you are going to create and the amount of data you are going to exchange.

  8. Select the way you are going to use Virola server – on the Internet or internally within your intranet.

  10. Finalize configuration by defining the password
  11. Select the billing package and click "Create server". The process may take several minutes.
  12. As soon as the server appears in the list of servers click "Open" next to it to see the information on the "Overview" tab about the server and its IP address which you will require to connect Virola server.

  14. Follow the "Connect" tab and click "Open remote console"
  15. In the console log into your VM with root login and your password

  17. Use the IP address or hostname from the "Overview" tab and any open port, e.g. 8888 to start the Virola service
  18. Log into your Virola client using your hostname, port, and admin / admin credentials.
